This is the very first post of our new blog!

Dear Friends!!! I need your opinion! From everybody!:

As some of you may already know, we (Alejandro Morocho, a dear colleague, and me) are pursuing a greener landscape in our city, Quito.

We just attacked the first forgotten spot just outside our working place. If you like you can pass by and check how cute are the orange flowers and those green and red leaves plants that lightens the road.

First of all we had to clean the flower-bed from all the butts and wrappings and packages that the (now I called them so) Enviro-Kamikazes throw all over the place, even though THERE IS a trash can two steps away.

Well, as I said, we cleaned everything and mixed the existing soil with many bags of organic compost (thanks Alejo!).

The months before our attack we hadn't any single drop of rain and as if by magic three days after the planting we had three days of beautiful rain!

Here you have many pics from our attack. We made it on daylight! We are far more rebel than our GG from London, since we don't care if people passing-by see our work and who we are!

During the following weeks I will make some pics of some spots to be restored. I hope I can meet our GG from Rotterdam this week. It would be great to share some ideas.

La iniciativa "verde" del Mall El Jardín en Quito

Hoy al medio día pase por el Mall El Jardín y vi que mal o bien este centro comercial sí apoya la expansión de la conciencia verde entre sus visitantes.

Aquí tienen algunas fotos que tome a los carteles "verdes" en los pasillos.


La pregunta que me queda es si además de buscar concienciar a los compradores hacen algo con las tiendas como por ejemplo impulsar la reducción del uso de fundas plásticas.... O si hacen algo útil y provechoso con tantos recipientes de plástico desechables del patio de comidas que de hecho pueden ser reciclados ....



Ser verde y buscar que el resto tome conciencia no sólo implica pintar o imprimir mensajes bonitos e impactantes. Ayuda sí, pero mucho más ayuda la acción óportuna!!
